STOP SMART METERS NOW!

FPL has already begun the installation of controversial “Smart Meters” in south Florida and intends to begin installation in St. Johns County in 2012. Likewise, JEA has indicated their plans to also implement Smart Meters in Jacksonville. Now is the time for action to prevent this from happening.
These new meters pose potential risks to the privacy, safety and health of the entire household and local environment where they are installed.

  5. Hello everyone,I'm a citizen from the corrupt state of PA!! i say this and am not happy. Our former Gov. "Fast Eddy Rendell put in a MANDATE and that's with many $$ signs to MANDATE the eventual installation to all power companies and customers, SMART METERS! We have a FIGHT going o n here to beat the band!! We have one guy who is trying to get a repeal of these horrendous meters that hoe in everyone's private lives!! We've had anecdotal reports of persons electric being shut off (air conditioning) at this time of the year most tortuous hot spell we've had in some time!!
I've talked to my husband that if we find a friendly state to us "old Folks" we'd like to get away from this abominable program!!!
How's it going for you there in Florida??
Thanks, Suffering in PA!! Please comment

  6. I sent an adobe acrobat signed letter (Smart Meter Opt Out) from this website to heidi.ellenberger@fpl.com and within 2 hours her assistant called me back to tell me they would be removing the meter within 5 days. If they do not have your approval they cannot keep this in place. Try it it worked for me.

  7. I was given a point of contact at FPL. Anyone can call Wilda Leslie at 1-800-516-6250, ext. 4, and opt out and put off their installation of the smart meter.

  8. Here is an interesting thing. These devices have been deemed as a (Group 2B) in the world of RF radiation, meaning a “possible” carcinogen. What right does a company have, without my permission, to install a device that is even a "possible" cause of cancer on OUR property when the means to collect information is available with a device that has NO risk?

I also noticed in the neighborhood that every quarter-mile or so, there is a home with what appears to be a double-stacked smart meter! I assume that this additional device is a receiving station to collect the information from the surrounding transmitters (smart meters). Did these homeowners give up a lease right to FPL to use their home as a receiving station? Is that homeowner getting a fee for that use of property? Are they getting a significant discount on their power bill? Why are these questions not being asked!!

  9. I just received a call from FPL and they will be removing mine within 10 days. It's not just me with tinitus and headaches...it's my neighbors as well.
I think everyone should get involved and know what your home is being used for. Wake up America!!! (Volusia County,FL)

  13. called JEA here in Jacksonville today to request my Smart meter removed. They told me the request would have to be approved, but overall were helpful and seemed understanding. Said not to expect it in the next 24 hrs. Jea showed up at my home later the same day (today) though to change the meter out. As she was changing the meter she told me that they are all Smart Meters and the meter she replaced it with appears to be another type of Smart Meter. They are just patronizing me.

  15. In Florida FPL is threatening me with a letter saying i will have to pay $250+ a year extra if i keep my Analog meter and don’t exchange for Smartmeter! -( by March 30,2014) It’s getting crazy! Fascist Dictatorship – Comply or PAY!

  16. Hello, I have a question, how is it they are telling us that we have a choice, what
choice do we really have? Pay $250 plus a year extra, or they come and invade your privacy. This website is not helpfull, where is everybody? Paying no attention to the smart meters, but playing with their smart phones. Do you really think, 15 of us can fix this?

  18. Customers of FPL can now "opt out" of smart meter. Must choose "Non-Standard Meter" option. If you refused the smart meter, FPL will be sending you a letter soon. More info at the following links. Check back to both sites for updates as information comes in and responses evolve.

  19. It is interesting to note that not everyone who opts out of having a smart meter has to pay more. Progress energy customer don't.

  20. People like all of you are the problem as to why Smart meter technology will not progress. Smart meters are supposed to aid the community not harm it. Smart meters will record your power usage then calculate when to supply power to your community at a cheaper rate.

  21. Do you understand how hard FPL is working to keep that sensitive information secured from the wrong people?
